Deadpool 3 Star Emma Corrin Reveals That They Know Practically Nothing About Marvel.

3 min read

Marvel’s chimichanga-eating anti-hero will soon face an unknown foe. Much like every other film, television and streaming program, Deadpool 3 is facing the difficulties stemming from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes. Emma Corrin talked about the project prior to the labor disputes, revealing in an interview with Empire that they are very much up for the challenge of playing a villain, but know very little about the world they are joining.

Corrin told Empire:

“I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch. I’d heard about [Deadpool 3] but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch.”

Deadpool has faced off against a plethora of villains in Marvel Comics, but there are several baddies that can be ruled out immediately. Corrin isn’t playing Kraven the Hunter because that mantle was taken up by the Avengers: Age of Ultron’s own Quicksilver, Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Juggernaut was voiced by Deadpool himself (Ryan Reynolds) in Deadpool 2. Ajax (Ed Skrein) and Thanos (Josh Brolin) already exist in the expanded Marvel Cinematic and Sony Universes. However, while the character’s identity is important to the fandom, Corrin didn’t have much insight into the superhero world prior to being cast.

Emma Corrin will do battle with the merc with a mouth in Deadpool 3, but their role still hasn’t been revealed to the public. Other villains who can also be ruled out for Corrin to play likely include Hit-Monkey — who has already been voiced in 2021 by Fred Tatasciore. Likewise, Carnage (Woody Harrelson) already exists in the Sony Universe.

Corrin said in the same interview with Empire:

“Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind f—. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing.”

Bullseye is one of Deadpool’s opponents in the comic books. That’s a possibility since it’s unlikely Colin Farrell will reprise the role from 2003’s Daredevil. Although, given the fact Jennifer Garner is coming back as Elekra in Deadpool 3, who knows? Regardless, Corrin knows how important these characters are to the fan base.

Corrin said in the same interview:

“I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people. It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”

Finally, with Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) already being used in Black Widow, there are only a few other baddies to choose from. Corrin could be suiting up as either Evil Deadpool or Dreadpool. However, that still leaves a rather delicious Madcap waiting in the wings, too.
