Jonathan Majors made a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the new trailer for Loki season 2. The actor is currently in the middle of a controversy over an alleged assault, but as an integral part of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, looks set to continue his run as many variations of Kang while legal proceedings continue. The new trailer for Tom Hiddleston’s latest outing as the God of Mischief arrived today, with a new, short look at Majors’ villain in the guise of Victor Timely.

The Kang actor is featured in a five-minute section surrounding his He Who Remains Variant role in Loki and BTS footage of the latest Ant-Man film. In the interview, Majors states his gratitude for his inclusion in the MCU. “The ‘Ant-Man’ franchise, within the MCU, has a very clear ethos, has a very clear rhythm to it. I had the benefit of stepping into a song that was already playing.”

The actor also expressed his excitement about wearing his Kang costume during filming. “Starting out, they brought the costume completely into the trailer. And I did take a moment. And then once I put it on, I went, ‘Mmm, this is it.’ There are very few moments in my life where you go, ‘This is it.’ There is an energy within the suit. It literally makes you stand up straight. That’s just how it’s built. There’s mysticism about it. It’s iconic.”

His appearance comes as a surprise as for the past year, Majors has been the center of controversy as allegations of domestic violence and abuse have surfaced against the 33-year-old. The actor and his legal team have denied all allegations of physical misconduct and retain his innocence. His domestic violence trial begins on August 3rd in New York City.

But as the October premiere date for Loki season two encroaches, it is unclear if Majors’ role as Kang will change in future projects as Disney has yet to provide an official statement on his controversies.

Spoiler Warning for Loki Season Two

Majors’ debut in the MCU was a brief introduction at the end of Loki season one as a Kang variant called ‘He Who Remains’ and the Time Variance Authority (TVA) leader. Marvel insiders report that Kang will have a more significant role in the upcoming season and appear in at least three episodes. Before his death by Sylvie, He Who Remains explains the true motive of the Kang variants. “To some of us, new worlds meant only one thing, new lands to be conquered. The peace between realities erupted into all-out war, each variant fighting to preserve their universe and annihilate the others. This was almost the end, ladies and gentlemen, of everything and everyone.”

Before he was one of the universe’s supervillains, Kang the Conqueror was a scientist named Nathaniel Richards who lived in the 31st century on Earth-6311. Richards, being a descendant of the time traveler Nathaniel Richards of the same name (the father of Reed Richards, aka Mr.Fantastic), obsessively researched history and discovered time-traveling equipment created by Doctor Doom. As a result of his travels, Kang created different versions (or variants) of himself as his main goal is to conquer every planet in each timeline. Despite his future interactions with other Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, Thor, and Mantis, Kang’s main gripe is with The Fantastic Four due to their successful interference with his plans to conquer Ancient Egypt.

With Kang’s reveal and the power of time travel, the possibilities of which direction the show will go are endless.

Season two of Loki will stream on Disney+ starting October 6th.
